Networking with 2 PS4 Virtual Realities

I want to play two-player networked Farpoint.

I have two Playstation 4's that I just got. I have two Virtual Realities I just got (well, while I currently posess one, the 2nd is on it's way to arrive in a few days).

Anyway, I bought a 50 foot Ethernet cable planning on attaching the two PS4s together; with WiFi of PS4s tuned to my router (not that that last part necessarily matters).

So here's what I am getting at: Will I be okay to just buy two copies of the disk, connect the Ethernet to each Playstation, and turn on the Virtual Realities, toggle a few things on the screen and just, get to playing the game? Am I set? Do I need anything more? Am I missing something? This is my very first time doing this.

Thanks so much to anyone who answers this!!   --Jason

p.s. dear Mods, I am sorry but I posted this in a different forum as well. I'm not sure which one though. Apologies for the trouble.

  • Hi Jason,

You'll need an active PlayStation Plus account for each console to access the online multiplayer features.  You can read more about PlayStation online multiplayer here: https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/explore/playstation-plus/online-multiplayer/

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards,

  • I am sure you have figured it out by now. ImpulseGear is wrong. But for anyone else reading this tread now and in the future you DO NOT need PS Plus on the second PS4. Simply login to your PS4 with the account that has PS Plus. Set it as your primary console. Now login to your second PS4 with the same account but don't set it as your primary.

Now anyone that login into the first PS4 with thier own account can play online without having PS Plus. And you can login to your account on the second PS4 and continue to play online if you wish.

Sony explained this years ago. Only one person in the family needs to own PS Plus. Every other account in the home can access online. And with an additonal PS4 just make sure that one of the consoles has the PS Plus account set as the primary. So others login can use the PS Plus feature.

Note: This also works with any digital games you may have purchased on your account as well. Others will be able to play/erarn trophies as if that owned the game.

    Google for info
