Missing PS Plus Games

Why are plus games being removed from library? I am missing a few games from my list with no way to get them back even after restoring Licenses. So far Black Ops 3, Grim Fandango Remastered, and the 1st Styx game.Is anyone else getting their games removed or was I hit by some glitch.I want to know if anyone else is experiencing this before I decide wether or not I should bother to renew my plus subscription.

  • When you allow your Plus subscription to lapse, you are not entitled to play those games you downloaded for free. If you purchase a subscription again, there's no guarantee that all of the same games will be available to re-download.

  • Problem is my games disappeared the day before my sub expired, also plus is advertised that all games you added to your library before they were removed can be downloaded again when you renew your subscription. Strangely Grim Fandango PS4 vanished from my library but the Vita version remains.

  • I'm sorrry, I don't believe Sony advertises that. You'd have to show proof.

There you go, 4 official links from playstation that clearly state games you added to your library can be redownloaded again even if they were removed from plus or are resubscribing. It clearly states it in their plus membership guide and on their blog post so yes they clearly do advertsie it as such, even on their support page.

The first link you posted, in the URL it seems to come from the site for Great Britain (where the URL shows en-gb).  Your account is based in the US, so anything for Great Britain does NOT apply to you.

Did you check the "purchased" section of your Library?

For any further assistance with your account and your purchases you need to contact Customer Service - nobody on this public forum can reinstate games or licenses on your account or console.

  • Yes I checked my purchased list and the plus section of the library. Even stranger is when I go to the plus Icon on the Xmb, Detroit repeats 6 times on that list while on my library it shows up only once. The GB sites are shown as a comparrison to show that the US is not the only one who says you can redownload your games. I also went on my transaction history and thay appear on my hystory but for some reason they won't appear on my redownload list. Even a game I purchased before is asking my to rebuy the game so it's not only my plus games that are being affected.

  • Forget this, just got done talking with chat support where they told me they were not offered on plus only on PS Now even though the adverts for said games line up with my transaction ID dates but ok.Also games I bought before August 2017 don't appear on their system and and that I was gamesharing it which was why I was apparently able to play them till I showed them a screenshot with my Username and purchased date just to get told the excuse that they updated the stores so many times that it caused my purchased game not to be rrecognised which is why it's asking me to rebuy the game.So they lost my transaction history and I apparently some got plus games that where never offered on plus,ok then.I guess those who posted these articles never got the memo of those games not being available for plus subscribers.

Just to add, the blog post from 2010 is outdated now, it is true that's originally that's it was, but Sony changed that long ago, now they don't guarantee all your games will return if you let your subscription lapse.

  • This has happened before.I have seen other user's complain on these forums for either missing games and transaction history's that disappeared. You are not the 1st and won't be the last.It has been going on for years. This is why I buy physical and not digital. To avoid this nonsense.Good luck trying to reclaim anything when they loose your purchase history.

  • Thank you for the references. It's interesting that Sony states this: “If your PS Plus membership lapses and you had game save data in the Online Game Save storage or full game titles in your Library, you can access them when you renew PS Plus.” or similar wording in their posts when it's known that some games can't be re-downloaded. I know that occasionally games are removed from the store and I assumed this was because the developer went out of business (or their IP was sold) and Sony doesn't have a contract with them any longer or with the new IP holder. I did note that CoD, Black Ops 3 was only available for free until July 11, 2018.

  • Gamers often compare video games to movies and they are quite similar in a few significant ways such as general storytelling & tropes thereof.

Something video games should REALLY consider adopting from movies is how it's now possible to purchase the physical copy(typically a 4K Ultra or Blu-ray but some DVDs as well)while receiving a code for a digital copy as well.

Even if the physical media just up & dies(WITHOUT WARNING)you can then download & access what you paid for already OR just play it digitally by default as long as the platform lasts.

Not going to happen. Movie studios can do that because they stand to make millions or even billions in theaters, video games don't work like that. If game devs did that, that's an automatic 50% loss in sales, because everyone would be giving their buddy/friend/sibling/cousin/little Johnny down the street the redeem code for the digital copy.
