Outside Home Network

On my moblie devices trying to stream through my chromecast I am getting the message

"Outside Home Network. Contect may be limited or unavailable outside your home network. If you think we've detected your location incorrectly, try launching PlayStation Vue on your console, then launching it again on your iOS device.

If you experience all channels marked as Mobile Restricted, select Sign Out from the menu, connect your iOS device to the Home Network where you've originated your PlayStation Vue Subscription, and log back in to the PlayStation Vue Mobile applicaton."

I've done this, uninstalled and reset, and I have yet to get it to work on a moblie device. Vue works fine through my Roku and console.  I've talked with customer support and they told me to check the blog for updates...lazy answer.  Anyone have any help with this?

  • What you know that did it. Thank you very much.

@Mudd1065 Hey there! If you are still seeing this message on your tablet, try logging out of Vue on that device, disconnecting from your WiFi, then reconnect to the WiFi and try again. Let us know if that helps.

  • I get this message on my tablet. I'm in my freaking bedroom. Obviously I'm at home. Using it through web and app. Makes no sense.

  • No matter what I do at home it says I am outside of my home network. I have tried this on an iPhone and and android tablet. Both devices say outside of home network. Everything works fine though when I view on my PlayStation 4. This is getting very frustrating and may have to look towards other services.

  • I figured this one out... I have a Galaxy S7 and a few other android devices. I can't speak for everyone but none of the solutions I found worked for me. I found if you go into your phone settings, then Applications, go to PS Vue Mobile in the applications list, then go to Permissions you'll see that Location is defaulted to off. Turning it on worked for me.

This happened to me as well. I had to call support and they had to reset my zip code.
Somehow it changed, I think it's because my IP changed from the ISP. Happens every 6 months.
I hope PS Vue comes up with a better way then having everyone call their support center whenever their IP address changes. Or maybe they expect everyone to pay for a static IP. Idk.

  • I'm canceling SlingTV with the Blue & Orange for $40 because I do not / cannot access regional sports despite their advertisements to the contrary.  Cannot log in to FoxSportsGo.com using SlingTV credentials, but you can with Vue.

  • Finally got this fixed.  Had to contact support to have them reset my home location, then it worked.

  • Anybody else experiencing this again? After a month of being good my iPhone and iPad is saying this again - outside home network when connected to my home wifi. Ugh and no support on weekends

  • I am running into this on my iOS devices as I am traveling. What is the actual point of a mobile app that does not allow you to view anything while mobile?! Beyond frustrated with this!

Having the same issue.  We watched the walking dead last night from our ps4.  This evening, we logged into our tablet and said outside of network.  Never had that issue before.  Tried it on my tablet and had same issue.  I then logged onto my ps4 and launched Vue and it asked for my zip code.  I entered it and all my shows are gone!!!!  I closed the app again, and when I launch it on ps4, asks again for zip code.  Wth is going on???

Sounds like your IP address may have changed to something that locates somewhere else, you'll need to reach out to actual tech support to try to resolve this.

In my case, I just closed/(kill) the app then re-open it again until I got it. (psvue app on phone)

  • Same problem here.

  • Same for me... works fine on my home wifi, but every channel is mobile restricted as soon as I disable wifi.  I'm physically in my home, on LTE on iPhone 6, and everything is mobile restricted.  Have tried uninstalling the app, reinstallig and signing in while connected to wifi, location services are enabled, etc.  Nothing seems to work.

  •  ...Not True. Many people reporting same issue. I was at a restaurant away from my home zipcode. It worked for a little bit and then everything went to mobile restricted. Only solution is to start the app on your home network. Um, I'm MOBILE. How am I supposed to do that? So, basically, you are screwed till you get back home. If you travel for your job like I do, too bad. Contacted support and they said there is no solution right now. See case #14014344.  At least SlingTV allows you to pay a little more to have it available on any device anywhere. I'm afraid this is a deal breaker for me too.

  • Yup, same thing for me. Can no longer cast to Chromecast, very frustrating. I'm also thinking it's gotta be the iOS update.

Having the same issue. All apps aren't working for me. Whenever I try logging into PS Vue it tells me I'm outside network (PS3, PS4, iPhone, Android). I have tried contacting support twice now. The first time they weren't able to resolve it, but sent an email for me to respond to with a scanned copy of my utility bill to verify the address. I sent the bill but never heard anything back. Since I was told it would take a few business days to fix it, I waited and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no success each day for a week. After six business days, I contacted support again. This time the guy did some things on his end and it worked for me to startup the app on my PS3 without an error. Unfortunately, I didn't keep him on the line long enough because it stopped working again a little while later. I don't have anything special with my network and I haven't tried using my devices outside my home. This should be easier than it is. And getting ahold of support is a pain. I haven't been able to get support on the line all week. I don't have all day to wait on the line for support. This is extremely frustrating because I so want PS VUE to work as I'm tired of cable and sattelite. Unfortunately, if I can't use it on my mobile devices to chromecast to tv's in rooms where I don't have my PS3, then I may just need to drop PS VUE. I certainly won't be recommending PS VUE to anyone at this point in time.

  • Having endless problems just like everyone else with the Vue app. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on Verizon. Two days ago I made the mistake of opening the app while at work and have been totally restricted on the app. Have tried logging out, disconnecting from my WiFi at home then reconnecting, uninstalling the app completely, reinstalling, no luck. Customer service told me to disconnect from my WiFi, log out of the app, reboot my phone, reconnect to WiFi, then log back into the app. Didn't work. What astounds me is that my PlayStation 3, FireTV and Roku stick all have no problems whatsoever. Can't someone straighten this crap out?!? The fact that Sling let's you stream via mobile no matter where you are is a HUGE deterrent to this service.

    Tony

You definitely should be able use your phone out of your home location. We apologize for any continued inconvenience and we’ll keep looking into this.

  • I'm having the same issue on my Android!

I spoke to Tech Support, but they weren't able to help me (ref# 13922475).

STOP THE PRESSES FOR AN UPDATE!!

After speaking to tech support a couple more times, turns out that their version of using their service on a "mobile" device will only work within your own home (zipcode).  If you happen to use it outside of that - oh, say you were "mobile" with it?  Well, their program locks you out from using it at home, too!  Needless to say, I just cancelled my subscription.

So long, VUE...Good luck in this little venture!!

  • I am having this problem not only on my iOS devices but also on my Android devices. It only works on my PS4 right now. Has anyone found a solution yet?

  • Ok, this was it. I signed up using a firestick but transitioned to just chromecasting everything from my android app because of laggy response from the firestick. Didn't realize I had to continue to use the firestick once in awhile to retain my home location. Thanks.
