PS4 Vue mobile on iOS - all content blocked

Trying the iOS mobile app on my iPhone and all content is blocked. I set the Privacy settings to allow the PS Vue app on mobile with no luck. The FAQ states there are 40 channels available on mobile but ALL channels show mobile restricted.

  • By "mobile" Sony means you can watch it from any room in your house on  your mobile device.

  • Did you log-in to the app from your HOME wifi when you initially set it up? as I understand it others on here had issues and they traced it to logging in from another network, they logged in and started watching something on there HOME network and where then able to take it elsewhere, I don't own a Apple device so I can't test this myself.

oh and if you've updated to iOS9 you might could try disabling the "wifi assist" function that uses your phones data connection to boost your internet speed, that might be causing IP address conflicts, possible, not completely sure how that thing handles IP addresses when it does that.

  • Yep - login from home network and it will get fixed.  Pretty much every channel is available on mobile now - used to only be a handful.

  • I was referring to the part of the FAQ that specifically states you can access a certain number of channels outside the home. I can access the service on the mobile app while connected to my home network, however, when I am off my home network it shows all contect locked. See FAQ entry copy/pasted below, clicking the link shows the channels that should be available but it doesn't seem to be the case as they are all blocked. I have had "wifi assist" turned off in my settings since iOS 9 released due to other issues. I also went into the settings on my iPhone and set the Privacy settings for the PS Vue mobile app to "use while on mobile" as customer service suggested in another thread.

From the PS Vue FAQs here on the Playstation website:

Can I access PlayStation™Vue outside my home?

You cannot physically take your PS4™ or PS3™ console or other TV-connected devices outside your home, nor can you sign in to or access the service on someone else’s device outside of your home.

You can access select channels on PlayStation™Vue Mobile outside the home.

Note: By ignoring the “In-Home” rules above, PlayStation™Vue will be unavailable, and you may be blocked from service.

  • After first connecting iPhone client at home now I get most of the channels are available.

I don't recall reading this detail in the Vue FAQ

Has anyone else had problems accessing NBC on their iPad or iPhone?  I wasn't having any problem before, but within the lasr few days everything on NBC - whether live or DVR/OnDemand - shows up as Mobile Restricted.  I am at home, signed in on my Wi-Fi.  The same Wi-Fi network I signed up on

  • Hey RGK,

NBC is not currently available for streaming on PlayStation Vue Mobile. You can find a full list of channels that are available in and out of the home on PlayStation Vue Mobile on our FAQ page: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/

    All -

As mentioned previously, if you notice that ALL content has been marked as Mobile Restricted, simply sign out of the PlayStation Vue mobile app from the side menu, connect to the home network where you activated your PlayStation Vue subscription, and log back in. From there you'll be able to stream in and out of the home as normal.

Thank you for your reply.  I did see that list of channels, but it says, "All channels except the following will be available for in-home viewing with PlayStation™Vue Mobile on iOS devices. Within included channels, there may be certain programs that are not available for mobile playback."  I thought it meant that SOME programs on those networks would be unavailable, not ALL programs, which is the case.  Also, what about using ChromeCast?  You have to access the programs on your IOS device in order to cast to your TV, but you're not watching on a mobile device.

  • you can watch nbc owned channels simply by downloading those channels individual apps, syfy, nbc, nbc sports, usa etc. they will ask for a service provider. playstation vue is

    listed as a provider.

  • Try Slingtv it is cheaper runs with less data usage and you can watch it anywhere on any 3 devices if you buy sling orange and sling blue together.

  • SLINGTV is much better.. U can watch Slingtv on any mobile device or tablet anywhere you want. It's not home restricted. You can watch up to 3 devices at the same time if you choose sling orange and sling blue.

I HAVE Sling, first off you DON'T need to buy both Blue and Orange (unless you just REALLY NEED Disney and ESPN), just get BLUE that is the multi stream, otherwise you are paying WAY more then Vue costs for a FRACTION the channel lineup.

Sling has 3 things over Vue:

    1. The lack of Location restrictions

    2. The number of supported devices

    3. The ability to CAP the bitrate for those with Limited Data Packages

Sling however lacks several KEY features like a PROPER DVR and honestly has a less reliable more prone to glitching stream (based on my 6 months with Vue and 9 months with Sling) So I would hardly call it better just because it lacks location restrictions and it will easily reach the same bitrates Vue uses if you don't limit it.

    Hi,

Replying to this old post as I am having the same issue. Wondering how the OP was able to resolve, and if there are any other resoltuion ideas to solve?

    As a bit of background

    • I've been a PS Vue customer for 2 months
    • For the past 2 months, I've enjoyed PS Vue in my home on my home network (both h ard wired and Wifi) on Fire TV, iPhone 7 Plus, iPad, iOS devices to Chromecast, etc.
    • I have also enjoyed being able to watch *most* channels on my iPhone while away from home, while I am connected to Verizon's LTE service. As already mentioend in this thread, this is allowed by PS Vue. When I am at home obviously, I use home network. When I am at a coffee shop or at work and need a break, I watch through the iPhone app while connected to LTE (standard cell connection).
    • Started yesterday, none of my devices worked - home or away. I kept getting the "Outside of Network" message AND also the Mobile Restricted message for ALL channels, even though nothing with my network or home changed. PS Vue chat support refreshed my account and this solved my devices in the home. Everything works great if I am connected to home network, as expected.
    • However, when I switched to LTE, I now get the "Outside of Network" message and when I clicked 'OK', literally all channels are blocked and say "Mobile Restricted".
    • I've tried everyting; I've signed off, logged in via home network, then tried to launch the app - this did not work. I've tried uninstalling everything, and re-installing. I've rebooted many times. I've chatted with support and they refreshed my account again, and still nothing. I've lost all ability to use the iPhone app in any capacity unless I am connected to home Wifi.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Any ideas on what to troubleshoot next?

It is quite frustrating that I was able to use my PS Vue on my iPhone (which is completely up-to-date, by the way), for 2 months on LTE when needed, and now all of a sudden I cannot access at all outside the home.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Jes

    Jes,

I am new to PSvue and I have the same issue as you.

Trying to watch anything outside the "home network" gets mobile restricted, no matter what the program.

Trying to watch using my Iphone 7, IOS 10, latest app.  Logged off and back on in my home network, while at home I can stream anything.  If I leave the home network, it says mobile restricted.  I can even switch to LTE at home (ATT) and then it will say mobile restricted.  Turn back on wifi and it is fine.  Most of the time I want to watch Fox news, which I can do on the fox news app, but it is annoying that the PSvue app wont work.

  • This seems to have just come up. It was fine when I signed up for the service. I could watch sports on my tablet while the kids used the TV. This was the first weekend I noticed the problem.

Well I guess I feel a bit better than I am not the only one :(

This is quite frustrating, and I agree, this has just com e up.

My whole account was screwy yesterday (mobile issues and even home network said I was "Outside Home Network"); they refreshed my account as they said there was an issue with Daylight Savings Time. The refresh fixed everything except my mobile access. Literally every single channel is "Mobile Restricted" when on LTE, which obviously shouldn't be the case.

Hoping they come up with a fix soon. I have a support ticket open with them, but even chat support was very confused on what the issue is and why it's happening...

Yup Mobile and WEB both started doing this yesterday on devices that have been working near flawlessly since the launch of the Android Mobile Vue app a few months ago and the Web launch last week, this is widespread and I personally believe it's linked to the current issue where people using PC's to establish there home location and getting located as "outside the US" since it started at the same time.

  • Same problem here. Maybe 50% of the time when I launch the mobile apps, I get "mobile restricted" for all content and sometimes--if I quit the app and relaunch (uusally 5 or 6 times), it will start working, but often I need to call or text a service rep to do some kind of a reset on the Sony end. Interestingly, this reset ALWAYS works and no, I dont need to log out/in OR re-install the app (which they always tell me I need to do). I suspect this is related to my my ISP (Charter) having DHCP service.

Love the service, but not crazy about having to go through the whole service agent schtick on a regular basis--I think I'm actually getting better at troubleshooting and explaining this than they are! :-) "Nope, not re-installing, nope, not logging out, please just reset..."

  • I got Sling TV and it works perfectly everywhere with PlayStation View I was not able to watch TV in my guess house because it's a different Wi-Fi and I was unable to watch the news from work on my cell phone because it was not on my Wi-Fi is just like you would have cable, so if you really want to cut the cord get Sling TV

Get a Wifi router or a Ethernet adapter.  The app has to be downloaded on the same home network as your PlayStation.

  • That's not simple at all when you are traveling out of state.

  • Sept 2017 and this still isnt fixed??

The main reason I signed up for this service was so that I could watch sports at work on my phone, specifically football on Sundays.

Major disappointment.  I connected iphone to playstation, restarted, logged in, still get mobile restricted

    Any other suggestions?

  • to the guy above, the NFL is the reason you can't stream football on mobile, NOTHING Vue/Sony can do about NFL's mobile device restriction, also games being blacked out is a different issue then getting ALL channels mobile restricted, which is an EASY fix, just login on your home wifi in the morning then use the HOME button to close the app and NOT Sign Out of the app and it will work other then the games that are mobile restricted.
