Fire TV 4k (2nd Gen) stuttering video after 6.2.3 update

I have an Amazon Fire TV 4k (2nd gen) and updated the PS Vue app to 6.2.3 yesterday.  Following this update, I have found that 60 fps video now exhibits an intermittent stuttering and appears to be very choppy.  This behavior is especially obvious while watching sports or programming with a scrolling ticker along the bottom of the screen.  I have restarted the device and checked all obvious issues on my side.  I have 1 Gbps internet service with a very strong 5 GHz wireless signal and no problems with other apps.

Coincidentally, I have two Sony Bravia TVs with Android TV that began exhibiting this same behavior a few months ago (likely April) following a Vue app update.  They both still exhibit this behavior, making sports essentially unwatchable.  It appears that the PS Vue team is rolling out an update that is gradually introducing severe video stuttering across all devices.

I also have an Nvidia Shield TV and Roku Ultra that do not exhibit this behavior as of yet.  Unfortunately, 3 out of my 5 PS Vue enabled devices are now nearly unwatchable.

  • No update as of last night.  Is the PS Vue the update or is it a Firestick update?  For me the PS Vue app is my only problem.  All other services are running smooth.

  • Still no update for my 4K Firesticks. Hopefully soon, but if you don't have it yet, you are not alone. Is the new version 6.2.4?

  • Firestick has now a 6.2.4, but the issue is still not fixed with this new version. Constant stuttering.

  • For the person asking about installing the old (5.1) version, I did that and then was forced to update the app before it would open....I read about the 6.24 version fixing the problem and istalled that version...That didn't solve it for me. So I'm still using my Roku ultra and it's been rock solid like always..

How are people installing 6.2.4?  I checked the Fire TV "app store" last night and it still lists 6.2.3 as the current version.

  • I did not have to install to 6.2.4.  It must have came through as a auto update yesterday.  I was happy to see the new version, but then disappointed when it fixed nothing for my Firesticks...

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled PSVUE when the 6.2.4 update came out last night. Fixed the stuttering issues on all my Firestick 4K's.

  • I'll have to try again later today.  All my Firesticks said they now were 6.2.4 and they all still stuttered.

  • My 4 Firestick 4Ks and 1 Cube have all updated to 6.2.4.  I wonder if they are rolling out the update geographically like DirecTV sometimes used to do.  I live in FL.  My devices are working great.  No stuttering and no audio synch issues whether live (including sports), on demand or DVR.  Very pleased, at least for now.

  • You should update the software of your Fire Tv. You will find its update on Playstation Official Site or you may download it on other sites. I would like to recommend Fineapkapps. You will find the update in this site. I've droped the link below:

  • 6.2.4 works on my bedroom firestick.  Living room firestick still stuttering.  Hooked up my Roku and it's perfect...

  • My Cube & 4K Stick received the updates and there is NO improvement.  The stream still stutters after a channel is launched, leading to the audio to be out of sync.  Again, v5.10.0 that is on 2 other devices work perfect.

  • No logical explanation, but I have 3 1st Gen 4K sticks.  Two of them work now, one still stutters.  They are all running the same version of everything.  ?????...

  • Luckily, version 6.2.4 has been effective on my 3 latest-gen 4K Firesticks. Picture seems stable again (no stuttering).

  • Haven't watched Vue all week, been watching Netflix and Hulu instead. I have the 6.2.4 update and it seems to be running fine so far on my 2nd gen Fire tv.

  • Stuttering fixed, but dvr rewind/fastforward doesn't show pargram position.  You can't tell how far  the program has been FF/RW.  Ver 5.10 still works on another firestick and the rw/ff works as well.

  • I’m on 6.2.4 and now it just sits on the main screen and the only way I can watch is to uninstall/reinstall the PSVue app .. but this only works for as long as it’s on. As soon as it turn the tv off and turn it on again the same problem returns. I called tech support twice and they are aware of the issue but have no idea when it will be fixed. I also had them open a request for a refund for the period of time that I am inconvenienced. I urge everyone to call and ask for compensation. The PSVue support # is 877-883-7669.

  • Now I see the 2 Firesticks devices that I refused to update from 5.10 because they work perfect are being forced to update.  Great. 6.2.4 still sucks on my Cube.  Stutter/Audio sync issues.  It's useable on my other 4K stick but still has audio issues.  And I see others with 6.2.4 issues.  I really don't want to update....ughhhh.

Here to help!  If you're still running into issue with version 6.2.4, please try deleting and reinstalling the PS Vue app on your Amazon Fire Device.  You do this by going to the home screen of the Fire device>Settings>Applications>Manage Installed Applications>PlayStation PS Vue>clear the cache and then clear the data>unplug the Fire TV from the power for about 20 seconds, plug it back in.  Please let us know if the issue persists after following this step.

  • Done all that.  Again, 5.10 works PERFECT on 2 devices. 6.2.3 & 6.2.4 were and still are TERRIBLE on other 2 devices.  Now I am being forced to update to 6.2.4 on the working devices.
